JEE Main 2018JEE Main – JEE Main is a national level engineering entrance exam which is conducted by CBSE. JEE Main which is previously known as AIEEE is conducted for admission in NITs, IIITs and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions. Those candidates who are able to come into merit list of 2,20,000 applicant, will be eligible to appear in JEE Advanced.

JEE Advanced is conducted by seven zonal Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) under the guidance of the Joint Admission Board (JAB) for JEE Main qualifiers for admission in IITs- Indian Institute of Technology. This year JEE Advanced is being organised by IIT-Kanpur.

JEE Main 2018 Last date for online application is 1st Jan 2018, offline exam is on 8th April 2018, online exam is on 15th & 16th April 2018 & result will be declared on 30th April 2018.

Those candidates who are eligibility as per the criteria laid down for JEE Main, JEE Advanced and participating State Institutions, can apply online on JEE Main website.

JEE Main 2018 Application Procedure

Step 1: Fill the Online Application Form, choose your Password and note down system generated Application Number.

The candidate should supply all the details while filling the Online Application Form and also required to choose PASSWORD and Security Question and enter his/her Answer. After successful submission of the data, Application number will be generated and it will be used to complete the remaining Steps of the Application Form and also required for all future correspondence. For subsequent logins, candidate will be able to login directly with his/her respective system generated Application Number and chosen Password.

 Step 2: Upload Scanned Images of Photograph, Signature and Thumb impression:

  • The scanned images of photograph, Signature and thumb impression should be in jpg/jpeg format only.
  • Size of the photo image must be greater than 4 kb and less than 40 kb.
  • Size of the signature image must be greater than 1 kb and less than 30 kb.
  • Size of the thumb impression image must be greater than 1 kb and less than 30 kb.
  • Dimension of photograph image should be 3.5 cm(width) x 4.5 cm(Height) only.
  • Dimension of signature image should be 3.5 cm(length) x 1.5 cm(Height) only.
  • Dimension of thumb impression image should be 3.5 cm(length) x 1.5 cm(Height) only.

NOTE : The Candidate will be able to modify/correct the particulars before the payment of fees. Once the payment of fee has been made / e-Challan downloaded, candidate particulars cannot be edited.

Step 3: Pay Examination Fee by debit/credit card or e-Challan of Syndicate/Canara/ICICI/HDFC Bank  :

  • Payment by Debit/Credit Card:The candidate has to select Debit/Credit Card option to pay the application fee and follow the online instruction to complete the payment of fee. After successful payment, candidate will be able to print the acknowledgment Page. In case the acknowledgment page is not generated after payment of fee then the transaction is cancelled and amount will be refunded to the candidate account with in a week and however the candidate has to make another transaction till the Acknowledgment Page is not generated
  • Payment by Bank e-challan:The candidate has to select bank (Syndicate/Canara/ICICI/HDFC) to deposit the application fee through e-Challan mode. As soon as he/she selects, an e-Challan will be generated containing specific details of the candidate along with amount to be paid. The candidate has to take a printout of the same and take it to the nearest branch of the selected bank for making payment. After the confirmation of fee deposited from Bank/CBSE, the candidate will be able to print the Acknowledgment  In case the Acknowledgment Page is not generated, the candidate should contact the concerned bank/branch to update his/her transaction.

Selection of date/slot of Computer Based Examination of Paper – 1: The candidate, who has opted for Computer Based Examination of Paper – 1, should select the date/slot after payment of Examination Fee. The candidate, who does not select the date/slot, will be allotted the date/slot on random basis depending upon availability.

NOTE : (1) In case the examination fee is paid through credit/debit cards, the candidate will need to pay an additional processing charge as following
Credit Card: 1.20% of the examination fee plus the service tax as applicable.
Debit Card: 0.75% + taxes for examination fee up to Rs. 2000 and 1% + taxes for examination fee more than Rs. 2000.
(2) Application fee once paid will not be refunded (full or partial) under any circumstances.

New Changes in JEE Main 2018

Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India has introduced some new changes in the pattern of JEE Mains. Here are the highlights:

FAQs on JEE Main 2018

  1. Question: Is Aadhaar Card mandatory for filling the application form?
    Answer: Yes. You are required to enter the Aadhaar card number while filling the application form.
  2. Question: How can Assam, J&K and Meghalaya candidates apply, having no aadhaar card?
    Answer: Candidates who have passed/appearing the class 12th examination from Assam, J&K and Meghalaya states have to enter passport number, ration card number, bank account number or any other valid Govt. Identity number. Such candidates have to select the exam city centre in these states only.
  3. Question: How can OCI/PIO/NRI candidates apply without aadhaar card?
    Answer: These candidates are required to enter passport details.
  4. Question: Will the correction facility be provided in changing the exam centres?
    Answer: Yes, candidates can change their exam centres during correction period.
  5. Question: Is the application form acceptable with photograph not having name and date written on it?
    Answer: In case uploaded photograph does not have name and date, the form will not be rejected and no correction will be required.
  6. Question: Are diploma candidate eligible for JEE Main 2018?
    Answer: Yes, diploma candidates can apply for JEE Main 2018 but only to fulfill the eligibility for JEE Advanced 2018. Diploma holders will not be eligible for admission to NITs and CFTIs through JEE Main channel.
  7. Question: I have 60% marks in 12th examination? Am I eligible or I have to re-appear the 12th examination for getting 75% marks?
    Answer: You are eligible. 75% criteria is for admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs and CFTIs.
  8. Question: Is thumb impression required while filling JEE Mains 2018 application form?
    Answer: No, thumb impression is not needed in JEE Mains 2018 application form.
  9. Question: My name in aadhaar card is not exactly similar or not in same pattern as in school records. Which name I have to enter? Will it create problem later on?
    Answer: Such candidate should submit a correction request to aadhaar centre and apply for JEE Main by entering 14 digits Aadhaar Enrollment ID (including slash) printed on the slip issued by aadhaar centre after submitting updation request.
  10. Question: Whether candidates appeared for Paper-2 will be eligible for admission to B.Arch in IITs?
    Answer: No, such candidates will be eligible for admission to NITs/SPAs and other CFTIs where B.Arch is available.
  11. Question: I’ve passed 12th in March 2015, Am I eligible?
    Answer: No, you are not eligible.
  12. Question: Can NIOS candidates apply?
    Answer: Yes. Candidates passed/appearing class 12th from NIOS should select the state of eligibility according to the state in which the study centre is located.
